Our History

Our story began in 1994 in Harlingen, Texas, when Sunbelt—a regional sand and trucking company—expanded into over-the-road and flatbed transportation. What started as a small, uncertain venture quickly proved more complex than expected, but a committed team stepped in to build something stronger. Early leaders like John Flinn, alongside dedicated employees who wore multiple hats, laid the groundwork through long hours, strong relationships, and a shared determination to succeed.
By the late 1990s and early 2000s, Sunline found its footing. Strategic partnerships, fueled steady growth, while new terminals and offices expanded the company’s reach across the U.S. and Mexico. A culture of adaptability and teamwork emerged, with employees cross-training, stepping into new roles, and helping shape a company known for both performance and personal connection.
Like many growing companies, Sunline faced significant challenges, including economic downturns and industry volatility in the late 2000s. Through resilience, strategic relocation to San Antonio, and continued diversification, the company rebuilt and positioned itself for long-term success. Investments in technology, infrastructure, and people helped modernize operations while preserving the close-knit, family-oriented culture that defined its early years.
In recent years, Sunline has entered a period of accelerated growth. The team has embraced innovation, set ambitious performance benchmarks, and consistently exceeded goals while enhancing employee experience and driver satisfaction. Even through disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunline adapted quickly, strengthened its operations, and emerged stronger than ever.
